The Takahē is an endangered bird that lives in New Zealand. It was thought to be extinct in 1893 when the last specimens were brought in, but in 1948, it was rediscovered around Lake Te Anau. It's diet is of grasses. It is the largest member of the Rallidae family. When mating, the female lays two buff eggs and is territorial.
